PG&E CEO Resigns

Geisha Williams, the Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), has resigned. The resignation comes as the company is facing potential losses in the billions of dollars due its alleged role in causing the deadliest wildfire in California history.

Under Investigation

The cause of the Camp Fire, which killed 86 people and destroyed nearly 19,000 structures, is still under investigation. However, it appears that PG&E power lines may have contributed to the blaze.

According to the company, a PG&E employee discovered a damaged line shortly before the fire started. It is estimated that the company could face as much as $30 billion in total liability between the 2017 North Bay Fires and 2018 Camp Fire if it is found responsible.

The company has lost more than $16 billion in market value since October 2018.
